Research and Development  Work

  • Electronic Pile Control System: For a terry towel-weaving unit the pile operation control was by jacquard on a rapier machine. An electronic system was developed and installed on all 24 machines of a 100% EOU, Gogte Textiles Ltd. Belgaum.
  • Spider Cloth for Speaker: A cotton cloth to improve the performance of speaker was developed for Philips India Ltd. Pune.
  • Filter Cloth: A polyester filament yarn woven filter fabric for a domestic vacuum cleaner was developed for Modi Hovers Ltd. Mumbai.
  • Antistatic Filter Fabric Base Cloth: A polyester spun yarn base cloth with copper wires at intervals in warp and weft direction to be used as base cloth in needle punched Nonwoven fabric for filtration.
  • Clean Room Clothing for pharmaceutical industries by using micro denier polyester yarn.
  • 3D Fabric: I conceived the structure of forming a 3D fabric (for DRDL Hyderabad) where set of yarns are interwoven in all the 3 directions and then developed the mechanism for loom design to weave such fabrics, as a team member of defense project given to IIT Delhi
  • Many other products were developed for commercial applications such as circular woven fabric for coated belts, various canvas and duck fabrics, scrim cloth for non-woven, double cloth, computer ribbon cloth, acrylic blend carpet yarns, etc.

My research includes Smart Textiles (an emerging area in textile) or Functional Textiles. I have developed a prototype Smart Garment for visually impaired, electro-magnetic cloth for magnetic therapy, nonwoven composite for wound care, etc.
